There are a number of people who are notable members in the sport of wakeboarding who have started a campaign to get wakeboarding into the Olympic Games as soon as the 2020 Olympics. The one issue some of the lobbyists are having is that things like wakeboard racks and wakeboard towers are not yet standardized and a lot of variation can occur in different wakeboards and their accessories. It might be necessary for those in the sport of wakeboarding to consider making standardized equipment a part of international competition so as to ensure the acceptance of the sport by the Olympic committee.
